How to have sustainable New Year’s Eve?
The New Year’s Eve is fast upon us! Have you asked yourself how to celebrate it in the most sustainable way? Bring in the New Year in a truly conscious style, low-waste food and some environmentally-friendly spirits. ✨
Here are some tips we would like to share:
✨ Decorations: Avoid balloons, non-compostable glitter and other one-time-use things. You can re-use your Christmas decorations instead. Plug in fairy lights and hang them on the walls or add them into jars. Soy wax candles can bright up your room and create a nice atmosphere.
✨ Food: Try to buy local and organic food. Holidays create lots of food waste, so make sure you prepare right amount of meals. Take with you your own containers, so after the party you can share leftovers with your friends.
✨ Drinks: It’s good to choose organic & plant-based options, which nowadays are easy to find. If you take delight in champagne, we recommend for example vegan-friendly Dom Pérignon, Laurent-Perrier or Veuve Clicquot. If you prefer colorful drinks, instead of plastic or even paper straws, try to use glass or metal ones.
✨ New Year’s Eve outfits: Try to wear something from your wardrobe, borrow from a friend or even rent! If you really need to buy something, we suggest a tour to some cool local second-hand shop. For those who live in Norway, we recommend shopping at @fretexfashion, where you can find many sparkly outfits or fully sustainable and more luxury @eftir_norge located in Oslo. 💃🏼
…and have fun with your heart full of joy, gratitude and enthusiasm for new things to come!
